Server Technology integrates with Minicom’s AccessIT interface

Server Technology announced the integration of the SentryTM Cabinet Power Distribution Unit (PDU) Switched product family and the Minicom remote access management solution- AccessIT.

Minicom's AccessIT interface provides direct access to the Server Technology Sentry PDU remote reboot features without a separate login and password. IT Administrators now have centralized access to servers via KVM and industry leading remote access services, as well as the power controls of the PDU through one intuitive interface.

If a user is accessing a server through AccessIT and a reboot is required, a simple click on the power icon next to the server name performs the function. No longer does an administrator require multiple spreadsheet, IP addresses, passwords and user names to do their jobs.

Data Center Dynamics - July 17th in San Francisco

Server Technology will be exhibiting at Data Center Dynamics on July 17th in San Francisco.  The 7th Annual Expo DatacenterDynamics is focused on "doing more with less".

The conference is the "largest gathering of professionals involved in the design, build and operational management of 24/7 mission critical IT facilities".

The 2009 Conference will address subjects such as:

  • Updates from the EPA and Green Grid regarding new regulations, codes, standards, metrics and accreditation
  • Establishing a balance in between availability and performance of power on a per watt basis
  • Case studies and technical overviews on the newest in data center design addressing techniques including such as thermal management, modular building platforms, and new power architectures
  • Data Center automation to optimize Data Center infrastructure
  • Information on cloud computing, virtualization and service oriented architecture will affect Data Center design and operations

Datacentre Strategics - June 12th in Singapore

Server Technology will be participating in the Datacentre Strategics exhibition in Singapore on June 12th.

This one day show will cover many Data Center Topics including:

  • The integration of IT and facilities

  • Disaster recovery and Business Continuity

  • Human Aspect in Data Centre Management

  • Fire risk mitigation with early smoke detection

  • Rack Level Power Distribution aimed at improving capacity planning, uptime and efficiency

  • Productivity, Cost Reduction and a Positive ROI

  • Panel Discussions regarding - Power & Cooling, Planning, and Design & Operations

  • Greening of the Data Center - aimed at consuming less power within the operations

  • Planning for the Future - Expansion and Growth

  • Energy Efficiency in the Data Centre

The Data Center industry has always been focused on power consumption and cooling. These cost are currently escalating and expectations are for them to continue to do so.  Recent interest in green technology is driven by business operations aimed at establishing efficiency ratings of power consumption and cooling within the operations, and then implementing initiatives that can improve their PUE and DCIE ratings.

PUE and DCIE ratings have been endorsed by the Green Grid for establishing efficiency ratings within the Data Center.

7 x 24 Exchange - (May 31st-June 3rd) in Boca Raton, FL

Server Technology will be attending the 7 x 24 Exchange conference in Boca Raton, FL.

Interview with GreenerIT

At the recent GreenerIT trade show in Vaughan, Canada Server Technology’s Director of Product Marketing, Calvin Nicholson, was interviewed regarding how our power distribution units (pdu’s) play a role in the green technology initiative.

Server Technology's products are cutting edge in terms of power management and Data Center efficiency.  The industry is attempting to provide more in terms of power monitoring and management for Data Centers.  The first step in establishing current efficiency with metrics such as PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and DCIE (Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency) is implementing the ability to monitor power to calculate these metrics.

By calculating current Data Center efficiency metrics with a rack mountable pdu (the closest source for actual power consumption) companies can establish their current efficiency and make improvements accordingly.

POPS (Per Outlet Power Sensing) provides even more power information by providing power information on an outlet basis.  This allows Data Center managers looking to manage their power the ability to locate comatose or zombie servers, provide cost allocation in terms of power consumption per department or within a co-location facility.

When combined with the Sentry Power Manager (SPM) the Data Center manager can implement a per device overview of their entire Data Center power consumption on a per device level or by implementing grouping, per designated group.

This is a powerful application who’s value is already being recognized in the industry.
