Sun's New Cloud Computing Infrastructure.

As part of Sun's recent CommunityOne developer event in New York top executive's involved in the cloud computing project shared details regarding how the open cloud infrastructure will function.

Sun's pending open public cloud services is expected to be widely utilized immediately.  Initially Sun's cloud will provide data storage and later on move into providing computer services.

Sun will be launching the new cloud computing service at the SuperNAP 2009 facility in Las Vegas Nevada.

More information on Sun's cloud computing service including ideas on utilization from storage, software, operating systems and other applications such as virtualization can be referenced online.

Green IT is being driven by cost savings as much as environmental responsibilty

Very interesting article by the Uptime Institute honoring "The Global Green 100".  These 100 companies are being honored by the Uptime Institute for their thriving commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and energy consumption.

In order to reduce consumption you must first understand and measure your current consumption.

Our Server Technology SPM product provides a full analysis of energy consumption across units.  The Server Technology POPS units can be utilized to provide per outlet power monitoring.  This technology can be used to identify Zombie or Comatose servers and remove them from the system in order to decrease power consumption and thus costs.

Server Technology to exhibit at Interface F2F Portland

As part of the 2009 trade show exhibits Server Tech will be participating in the Interface F2F in Portland Oregon on March 18th.

Interface will be exhibiting at regional shows across the United States.

These shows aim at providing a content for the show that is applicable for the local market.

Obama calls for Carbon Cap Legislation

As part of President Obama's pledge to steer America towards clean, renewable energy he requested that Congress present him with "legislation that places a market-based cap on carbon pollution and drives the production of more renewable energy in America".

Such legislation is likely to follow suit to similar legislation in Europe.

The effect of such legislation on the data center industry is inevitable. 

Data Center Dynamics - March 4th in New York

Server Technology will be exhibiting at the Data Center Dynamics in New York on March 4th.

As part of our exhibit we'll have demos available on our new Sentry Power Manager appliance.  SPM provides a central interface for management of your pdus across locations.

This shows aims at providing end users, consultants and solution providers with access to information and vendors involved in the design, build and management of 24/7 facilities.
