Interview with GreenerIT

At the recent GreenerIT trade show in Vaughan, Canada Server Technology’s Director of Product Marketing, Calvin Nicholson, was interviewed regarding how our power distribution units (pdu’s) play a role in the green technology initiative.

Server Technology's products are cutting edge in terms of power management and Data Center efficiency.  The industry is attempting to provide more in terms of power monitoring and management for Data Centers.  The first step in establishing current efficiency with metrics such as PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) and DCIE (Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency) is implementing the ability to monitor power to calculate these metrics.

By calculating current Data Center efficiency metrics with a rack mountable pdu (the closest source for actual power consumption) companies can establish their current efficiency and make improvements accordingly.

POPS (Per Outlet Power Sensing) provides even more power information by providing power information on an outlet basis.  This allows Data Center managers looking to manage their power the ability to locate comatose or zombie servers, provide cost allocation in terms of power consumption per department or within a co-location facility.

When combined with the Sentry Power Manager (SPM) the Data Center manager can implement a per device overview of their entire Data Center power consumption on a per device level or by implementing grouping, per designated group.

This is a powerful application who’s value is already being recognized in the industry.

Interop 2009- May 17th-22nd

Server Technology will be exhibiting at Interop 2009 from May 17th to the 22nd.

Interop 2009 will be taking place at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas.

 

Now Available New Server Tech Smart PDU - Smart 3 Phase 36 mixed outlet (24xC13 and 12xC19)

Smart CDU CS-36VD/VY (C13/C19)-3Ph is a 36 outlet is a 3 Phase rack mount pdu available in a Delta or Wye configuration. This unit is 208 Volt and is available as 50 or 60 Amps.  The CS-36VD/VY (C13/C19)-3Ph unit design provides a mix of (24) C13 outlets and (12) C19 outlets per branch.

With the increased focus by Data Center managers to monitor power consumption this Smart cabinet rack pdu provides local LED input current monitoring, which is also available within a Web gui interface.

All sentry units, including the Smart PDU line, can roll up data to our Sentry Power Manager device in order to report on power trending within your operations.

For more detailed power monitoring Server Tech developed the POPS or Per Outlet Power Sensing pdus which allow for power information including kW and kW-hour information on an outlet basis. 

Interface F2F in Southern Oregon - May 14th

As part of the 2009 trade show exhibits Server Tech will be participating in the Interface F2F in Southern Oregon on May 14th. 

Interface will be exhibiting at regional shows across the United States.

These shows aim at providing a content for the show that is applicable for the local market.

BICSI Spring Conference (Baltimore, MD) - May 10th-13th

As part of our 2009 Trade Show Calendar Server Technology will be exhibiting at the BICSI Spring Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.

The show offers many Design and Installation Courses over the 4 day conference.  The exhibition hall is open each evening to allow attendees the opportunity  to compare products and technologies available.

Sun ready for Chill-Off 2

Sun is preparing to conduct their testing and generate report for the Chill-Off 2.

Sun's explanation regarding their Chill Off testing process (which will begin in June) is also available.

Sun conducts the Chill-Off with a variety of goals related to Data Center power management and cooling in a controlled testing environment and will be producing an industry report on their findings at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Energy Summit slated for end of September, 2009
